Valentines - Date Nights in the Cotswolds

Whether you're making last minute plans for Valentines Day next Friday, or just planning a getaway later in the year, there are so many gorgeous places to choose from in the Cotswolds. The English countryside is the one place you can have your very own moment from 'The Holiday'. And as a side note, you can take anyone you like to these places. Family, friends, and in some places even your four legged ones!

For an overnight stay - Hideaway Huts at The Fish Hotel, Broadway

Having already stayed in the Hilly Huts here, I have a huge love for The Fish Hotel. We had a wonderful stay in our little Hilly Hut which you can read about in my previous post, but after walking past the twinkly lights of the The Hideaway Huts, we really want to come back.

The Hideaway's are made up of two adjoined shepherd huts with a wood burner, cosy corner sofa and en-suite on one side. And on the other side a free standing bath tub and double bed which lies beneath a glass roof. Sounds dreamy, right? With a complimentary mini bar and the option to have pizza delivered to your door, you could stay in your dressing gown for the duration of your stay. And when you need a little fresh air, there's a heated bath tub for two just outside. I can see where the name came from as I love the idea of hiding away here!

For the ultimate spa break - Barnsley House Hotel, Nr Cirencester

If doing nothing is your idea of a getaway, Barnsley House would make the perfect countryside retreat. The house itself is filled with rooms and suites of all shapes and sizes - I particularly love the look of the Garden Room with its four poster bed and his and hers bathtubs. Surrounding the house are the beautiful gardens and hidden away is my favourite part, the spa! The spa here looks incredible. They have everything you need - sauna, steam room and outdoor hydrotherapy pool which overlooks the countryside. We both LOVE a spa break and this is definitely the next place we'll be going when were ready for a little R & R.

For an evening of being wined and dined - The Lygon Arms, Broadway

In prime location on Broadway's High Street, you'll find the Lygon Arms Hotel nestled between the shops. With a perfect mix of old and new inside, it has tasteful interiors and all the original features to remind you that the building dates back as early as the 1300's.

There are a couple of dining options at the Lygon, but for the real wow factor, you have to dine in the main bar and grill. Not only is the food delicous, but the dining space itself is stunning. With high ceilings and huge windows looking out the High Street, it still feels cosy with the grand fireplace that crackles in the background.

And when you've finished eating, you can choose from either the cocktail bar or one of many lounges for a post-dinner tipple. The perfect place to snuggle into your armchair and enjoy a drink.

For a long weekend or mid-week break - Thatched Cottage, Nr Chipping Norton

Sometimes one night just isn't enough. This is where you can have your real life 'Holiday' moment.

Sometimes I get a little envious of people that live further afield. I'd love to take a holiday somewhere like this but it's not always justifiable when it's a fairly short drive away. If we could take holidays in the Cotswolds, this is 100% where I would be booking!

The Thatched Cottage dates back to the 17th Century and has been decorated with the most beautiful interiors. Not only does it have that chocolate-box thatch roof, but inside there is an open fire, and the bedroom is complete with a roll top bath. As well as the honey coloured stone walls, the interiors have been selected from one of my favourite brands, Joules.

As tempting as it sounds to stay inside here , the cottage is in a great location for exploring the Cotswolds. There is only one downfall here... you have to leave!

For something different - The Cookery School at Daylesford Farm, Nr Kingham

If you're one of those couples that go all out for Valentines every year and you fancy something new, then this could be perfect.

When I get asked about places to go in the Cotswolds, Daylesford is always included in my recommendations. Located amongst the picturesque village of Kingham, you could spend hours here with a spot of shopping, drinking, eating... even learning.
The Cookery School uses Daylesford's own organic produce to teach a range of classes inside the stone barn. And this year, they are running courses especially for Valentines Day.

February 14th (daytime) - Cooking With Your Valentine

February 14th (evening) - Daylesford Valentine's Chef's Table Supper

February 15th (daytime) - Cooking With Your Valentine

February 16th (daytime) - Chocolate & Petits Fours

Don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with staying in on Valentines! Some of the best nights are the ones spent in your lounge wear with back to back Netflix on the TV (which is probably how we'll be spending it with a wedding to save for!) But sometimes, it's really good just to treat yourselves and join in with all the fun. How are you spending Valentines this year?
